Novel Applications in Food Packaging

Abstract

Today, the increasing awareness and tendency in food quality and safety issues have led to the search for different packaging technologies to be used in the food industry. As a result, researchers have started to give importance to increasing the functionality in packaging by adding a new dimension to the perspective of food packaging. Thus, packages developed with new technologies have started to become environmentally friendly packages that provide information to the consumer about food in addition to their other qualities. Among the developments mentioned, information will be given about smart packaging, modified atmosphere packaging and nanotechnological applications.
