The Negative Effects of Global Warming on Food Crysis and Migration in Nigeria
Abstract
Climate change exerts serious dangers on food security and nutritional outcomes in Nigeria, as evidenced by the alarming frequency of floods, droughts, ocean heat waves, changes in rainfall patterns, heavy rainstorms, increased frequency of heavy precipitation, depletion of soil nutrients, desertification, extreme cold, storms, and declining environmental quality and the unavailability of pasture and water for animal consumption are all which has changed the viability of traditional agricultural systems and has great implication on food and hunger which makes the Nigeria to experience food crises and migration currently, Migration has been seen as adaptation strategy from the hardship on the environment as a result of climate change effects and this has led to the loss of potential and able body young men, farmers abandoned their farming business and highly skilled professional to another nation or area in other to find a better life. Climate change has great impacts of food crisis and migration. This review highlights the Negative effects of climate change on food crisis and migration in Nigeria and will help policy makers to have handful knowledge on climate induced food crisis and climate induced migration and will be able to take policy that will mitigate the environmental degradation.
