The Impact of Digital Leadership on Technological Innovation: A Systematic Literature Review

Abstract

The rapid and continuous evolution of the digital world necessitates that leaders swiftly adopt and integrate emerging technologies into their organizations. This context has led to the rise of digital leadership, a concept that encompasses the ability to guide digital transformation, manage strategic change, and ensure effective implementation of digital initiatives. To maintain competitiveness in an increasingly digital environment, organizations require structured leadership approaches supported by clear strategic roadmaps. However, the academic literature still presents gaps in understanding how digital leadership influences technological innovation within organizational contexts. This study aims to address that gap by identifying key dimensions of this relationship through a systematic literature review. The analysis reveals seven main dimensions through which digital leadership impacts technological innovation: developing a strategic vision and innovation culture; data-driven decision making; digital skills and employee development; flexibility and rapid adaptation; customer orientation and personalization; sustainability and environmental impact; and enhancing collaboration and communication. By offering a structured framework built upon these dimensions, this study seeks to contribute to the existing body of knowledge and support future research in the field.
