AbstractWith the rapid development of economic, the demand for natural resources increases continuously. The utilization and depletion of natural resources have got widespread concern both at home and abroad. However, the cognition extent of the resources’ depletion is still far below that of the greenhouse effect and acidification effects in their development and utilization process. How to scientifically understand and evaluate the depletion of resources becomes extremely necessary and imperative. There have been several studies on characterization and normalization methods to evaluate the depletion of resources which are mainly of global scale. As the availability of resources is different between regions, and the importance of the resources is consequently different within regions compared to a global scale, this paper took the localization application of the characterization and normalization methods in China and provided reference for domestic LCA study on depletion of resources.
