Year 2015, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 0 - 0, 01.08.2015

Abstract

The Club of Rome released the report The Limits to Growth and western countries went through the oil crisis in the 1970s, energy issues have become a global focus. Energy efficiency is one of the most important issues concerned by scholars all over the world. Some scholars have constructed various evaluation models to score and compare energy efficiency across countries. However, limited research has focused the attention on regional difference from a geograp ica perspective. The authors believe that, although it is meaningful to compare the e lciency wdb other countries, it has little reference value to China in a sense that energy e lciency is a reflection of economic development stage which is difficult to change during a s ort period. China has its distinctive social, economic, and institutional system, with its own domestic macro-economic policies, fiscal and taxation policies, which to some extent make incomparability across countries in the globe. Study on the difference of energy efficiency across different regions in China has significant reference value for promoting energy efficiency under China’s current economic and technological development conditions
