Abstract
After the proclamation of the Republic, many writers and poets produced numerous works that dealt with the National Struggle from various angles and touched on its different aspects. In these works, both the historical context and the social aspect of the National Struggle are handled by keeping the elements of national identity in the foreground. Since they can be staged, theatrical works about the National Struggle, on the other hand, have a more important aspect compared to other works. These plays, most of which were written in the form of epics, kept the memory of the National Struggle fresh and caused enthusiasm in the places where they were staged. Two of these works are the theater plays titled Kahraman and Ateş by Faruk Nafiz Çamlıbel. Written in verse form, these plays dealt with the National Struggle from different perspectives. While the dynamism and leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk are brought to the fore in Kahraman; in Ateş, devoted Anatolian villagers who go to the front and carry ammunition are depicted. When the plays are analyzed, it is seen that Faruk Nafiz Çamlıbel's perspective on the National Struggle has changed over time, and it is noteworthy that he has revealed different themes regarding the subject. In this article, it has been tried to examine how the poet's plays named Kahraman and Ateş handled the National Struggle.
