Management of The Traumatic Crown-Root Fracture of The Maxillary Central Incisor Through Interdisciplinary Treatment

Abstract

Traumatic dental injuries are most commonly seen in maxillary incisors. In trauma cases, healthy chewing, good aesthetic appearance and continuity of the tooth in the mouth to fulfil its functions in speech are desired. A mixed dentition male patient with a chronological age of 9 years and 1 month was admitted to Harran University Faculty of Dentistry due to a crown fracture in tooth number 11 caused by trauma. Intraoral examination revealed a complicated crown-root fracture in the tooth. Endodontic and restorative treatment of the tooth was planned. However, it was understood that there were not enough crowns for these procedures. Extrusion of the central tooth was planned. Bonding was performed between the first molars and teeth 12-22. Extrusion was started 3 months after the trauma. Activation was ensured with monthly controls. At 3 months, sufficient extrusion was achieved. Composite laminated restoration was successfully completed with increasing crown length. An ideal treatment result was achieved with a multidisciplinary approach in a 9-year-old child with crown-root fracture due to trauma.
