KAYSERİ PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Abstract
One of the reforms which were carried out after establishment of The Turkish Republic is the letter revolution. With the revolution, the alphabet based on Arabic letters was abolished and the alphabet based on the Latin characters was introduced. After the adoption of Letter Revolution on 1 November 1928, Public Schools opened on 1 January 1929. Public schools had a major role for public in learning new letters and general information about daily life and citizenship. Publics chools, which were attempted to open in all cities, towns and even villages, can be considered as a great education movement in history of The Turkish Republic. All of the officers from all stages of the government worked at Organization of Public Schools according to the need. Mustafa Kemal Paşa accepted to be the chairman and the head teacher of Public Schools.
Kayseri section of the education movement across the country is discussed in this article. Both the information obtained about Kayseri Public Schools is considered and basicand general information about public schools is included in this study.
