Abstract

Fantezi edebiyatı yakın zamana kadar edebiyat çalışmalarında hak ettiği değer görememiştir ancak bu türle ilgilenen okuyucuların sayısındaki hızlı artış nedeniyle büyük önem kazanmıştır. Eserleri hicivsel fantezi olarak kabul edilen Terry Pratchett, 21. yüzyılın en ünlü ve başarılı fantezi edebiyatı yazarları arasındadır. Kırk bir romanı kapsayan Disk Dünya Serisi, onu dünya çapında dikkat çeken bir edebi figür haline getirmiştir. Pratchett, gerçek dünyanın sosyal ve politik meseleleriyle ilgilenir ve romanlarında fantezi ve hiciv unsurlarını ustalıkla harmanlar. Bu makalenin amacı, Pratchett'ın, gerçek dünyanın sosyal ve siyasi konularını fantezi edebiyatı unsurlarını kullanarak kendi yarattığı Disk Dünya evreninde nasıl hicvettiğini incelemek ve Disk Dünya Serisi’ne ilişkin genel bir perspektif sunmaktır. Bu amaçla, Disk Dünya Serisi’nden seçilen romanlardan bahsedilecektir.
