COVID-19 ve Ruh Sağlığı: Güncel Araştırmalar Bize Ne Gösteriyor?

Abstract

SARS-CoV-2 enfeksiyonunun neden olduğu COVID-19 tüm dünyayı 2019 sonundan bu yana etkisi altına almıştır. Hastalığın birden çok organ ve sistemi farklı şekilde etkilendiği bilinmektedir. Bu etkiler içinde ruh sağlığına olan etkileri de doğrudan ve dolaylı şekilde olmak üzere saymak mümkündür. Dolaylı etkilerden pandeminin günlük hayata etkileri ve bunun sonuçları, doğrudan etkilerden de enfeksiyonu geçirmiş bireyler üzerinde gözlenen etkiler sayılabilir. Tüm bu etkiler tek şekilde ortaya çıkmamakta ve ruh sağlığını üzerinde farklı yönlerden bozulmalara yol açmaktadır. Bu bozukluklara duygudurum bozuklukları, uyku bozuklukları, anksiyete bozuklukları ve psikotik bozukluklar örnek verilebilir. Ne yazık ki enfeksiyonun ortaya çıkardığı etkilerin mekanizmaları ve temelleri henüz aydınlatılabilmiş değildir. Ancak korunma yolları ve olası klinik tabloların neler olabileceğine dair araştırmalar pandeminin başlangıcından bu yana sürdürülmekte ve yayınlanmaktadır. Bu gözden geçirme yazısında mevcut araştırmaların ışığında COVID-19 pandemisinin ruh sağlığına etkileri özetlenmiştir.

COVID-19 and Mental Health: What do Current Research Show Us?

Abstract

COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection, has affected the whole world since the end of 2019. It is known that the disease affects multiple organs and systems in different ways. Among these effects, it is possible to count both direct and indirect effects on mental health too. Among the indirect effects, the effects of the pandemic on daily life and its consequences, and the direct effects on individuals who have been infected can be counted. All these effects do not manifest uniformly and cause deterioration in different aspects of mental health. Examples of these disorders are mood disorders, sleep disorders, anxiety disorders and psychotic disorders. Unfortunately, the mechanisms and basis of the effects of the infection have not been clarified yet. However, research on ways of protection and possible clinical manifestations has been carried out and published since the beginning of the pandemic. In this review, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health was summarized in light of current research.
