Abstract

Abstract
Portal vein thrombosis is the complete or partial obstruction of the parts of the portal vein by a thrombus. Patients often have non-specific symptoms such as abdominal pain. Therefore, the diagnosis is usually made incidentally. If not treated early, the mortality rate can reach up to 50%. Therefore, it is an important differential diagnosis that should be kept in mind especially by surgeons and emergency physicians. In this case presentation; We aimed to present a 40-year-old male patient who was admitted to the emergency department with the complaint of abdominal pain after appendectomy and a portal vein thrombus was detected in abdominal imaging methods.
