TIP FAKÜLTESİ ÖĞRENCİLERİNDE GÜNDÜZ AŞIRI UYKULULUK HALİ VE DEPRESYON ŞÜPHESİ İLİŞKİSİ

Abstract

Uyku bozuklukları, yaşam kalitesi ve iş verimliliğine olumsuz etkileri nedeniyle günümüzde sıkça üzerinde durulan bir hastalık grubudur. Tıp fakültesi öğrencileri eğitim ve öğretimlerinin yorucu temposu, geç saatlere kadar çalışma gerektiren ders yoğunluğu, geceleri geç uyuma ya da yaşanılması olası stresten dolayı uyku bozuklukları, özellikle Gündüz Aşırı Uykululuk Hali (GAUH) için risk grubu olarak değerlendirilebilirler. Çalışma, tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde birlikte bulunma olasılıkları yüksek olan GAUH ve depresyon şüphesi durumlarının sıklığı ve bu durumlarla ilişkili olduğu düşünülen özelliklerin değerlendirmesi amacıyla planlandı. Çalışma, Nisan-Mayıs 2014 tarihleri arasında Eskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nin ilk 3 sınıfında öğrenim gören öğrencilerde yapılan kesitsel tipte bir araştırmadır. Çalışma evreni 665 olup, çalışma günlerinde öğrencilerin 447 (%67.2)’sine ulaşıldı. Öğrencilerin yaşları 18-47 arasında, yaş ortalamaları 20.3±1.9 yıl idi. Öğrencilerin 186 (%41.6)’sı 1’inci, 139 (%31.1)’u 2’inci, sınıfa devam ederken, 224 (%50.1)’ü erkekti. Epworth Uykululuk Ölçeği’den (EUÖ) alınan puan ortancası (uç değerler) 6 ve 69 (%15.4) öğrencide GAUH saptanırken, Beck Depresyon Ölçeği’nden (BDÖ) alınan puan ortancası (uç değerler) 10 ve 97 (%21.7) öğrencide depresyon şüphesi varlığı saptandı. Öğrencilerin %5.6’sında (n=25) ise hem GAUH hem de depresyon şüphesi olduğu tespit edildi. GAUH sıklığı, kadın öğrencilerde, erkek öğrencilere göre (p=0.004) ve depresyon şüphesi sıklığı tespit edilenlerde, edilmeyenlere göre daha yüksek saptandı (p=0.002). EUÖ ve BDÖ’den alınan puanlar arasındaki ilişkiyi belirleyen lineer regresyon modelinde cinsiyete göre düzeltme yapıldıktan sonra orta düzeyde, pozitif yönde korelasyon olduğu tespit edildi (p<0.001). Gelecekte birer hekim olarak topluma hizmet verecek tıp fakültesi öğrencileri arasında GAUH’un ve depresyon şüphesinin genel toplumdaki yaşıtlarına nazaran daha ciddi sağlık problemleri olduğu kanaatine varıldı

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EXCESSIVE DAYTIME SLEEPINESS AND SUSPICION OF DEPRESSION ON MEDICAL FACULTY STUDENTS

Abstract

Today, sleeping disorder is a type of disease that be dwelled on frequently due to effects on quality of life and labor productivity. Medical faculty students can be assessed as risky group for Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) due to intensive educational tempo, subject intensity that needs long-time study, insufficient sleep and stress. This study is planned for assessing frequency of EDS and depression cases and specifications that considered to be related with these cases. This cross-sectional study was conducted on first, second and third grade students from Eskisehir Osmangazi University Medicine Faculty on April-May 2014. Target population of the study is 665 and 447 (%67.2) of them are be reached on study period. Students were between 18-47 age and the mean age of students’ was 20.3±1.9 years. Of the students, 186 (%41.6) were first grade, 139 (%31.1) were second grade and 224 (%50.1) were male. Taken median point from Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) is 6 and 69 (%15.4) students were diagnosed EDS whereas taken median point from Beck Depression Scale (BDS) is 10 and 97 (%21.7) students were diagnosed suspicion of depression. %5.6 of all students were diagnosed both EDS and suspicion of depression. Frequency of EDS is detected at higher point on female students than males (p=0.004) and is detected at higher point on suspicion of depression diagnosed than not diagnosed people (p=0.002). On lineer regression model that determines connection between gained points from ESS and BDS, a correlation was detected on positive direction and medium level after some changes according to gender (p<0.001). It is concluded that EDS and suspicion of depression is more serious health problem on medicine faculty students than others who are at the same age with them.Keywords: Zika virüs, microcaphaly, congenital zika syndrome
