Open Access Policy
The Erzurum Technical University Journal of Science (ETUJOS) is an open-access, online, peer-reviewed journal.
All content published in the journal is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) 4.0 International License, provided that the source is properly cited for non-commercial use. This license permits sharing and adaptation of the content, thereby supporting the dissemination of research.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from copyright holders when using previously published content (e.g., figures, tables). All legal, financial, and criminal liabilities arising from such use remain solely with the authors.
Copyright Policy
A Copyright Transfer and Author Contribution Statement Form must be submitted together with the manuscript. Upon acceptance of the manuscript, authors agree that the work will be published under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license. Authors retain their copyrights but grant the journal the right to publish the article.
Self-Archiving Policy
Authors are allowed to archive their published articles on institutional or personal websites and in open-access repositories. However, proper citation of the original publication must be provided, the DOI number must be included, and a link to the final published version on the journal’s website must be given.
Publication Fee Policy
ETUJOS is supported by Erzurum Technical University. No fees are charged to authors during the submission, evaluation, or publication processes.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer review process. Initially, a technical check is performed; manuscripts not meeting the requirements are returned to authors for revision. Eligible manuscripts are evaluated by the editors and then reviewed by at least two experts in the relevant field. The Editor-in-Chief has the final decision-making authority, and the process is carried out transparently and impartially.
Publication Ethics
ETUJOS adheres to national and international standards on research and publication ethics. It complies with the Press Law, the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works, and the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive. The journal has also adopted the International Standards for Editors and Authors published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
For research involving human participants, the Declaration of Helsinki must be followed, and ethics committee approval as well as informed consent must be obtained. For animal experiments, international guidelines (e.g., Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, 8th ed.) must be followed. Studies requiring ethics approval must clearly indicate the committee name, approval number, and date in the Methods section, and documents must be provided upon request. For studies involving children, parental/guardian consent is mandatory.
Similarity Check Policy
All manuscripts submitted to ETUJOS are screened for similarity using iThenticate software. Manuscripts with a total similarity index exceeding 20% are not accepted for review. Similarity from a single source must not exceed 5%. The reference list is excluded from the similarity calculation. Manuscripts exceeding the similarity threshold are returned to the authors and may be resubmitted after revision.
Plagiarism and Publication Misconduct
Ethical violations include plagiarism, self-plagiarism (duplicate publication), fabrication or falsification of data, excessive or irrelevant self-citation, and “salami slicing.” In such cases, the COPE flowcharts are followed.
Authorship
The authorship criteria of the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) are adopted. An author contribution statement must be submitted with the manuscript and published alongside the article. Requests for changes in the author list are considered only if accompanied by written consent signed by all authors.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must declare all financial and personal conflicts of interest that could potentially influence their work.
Correction and Retraction Policy
Corrections may be published for significant errors identified after publication. Articles found to involve ethical misconduct will be retracted, and this will be clearly indicated in the article record.
