Mehmet Biçici is an Associate Professor in the Department of History, Division of the History of the Republic of Türkiye, at Gaziantep University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He completed his undergraduate studies in the Department of History at Ege University. He received his M.A. from Afyon Kocatepe University and earned his Ph.D. in History from the Institute of Social Sciences at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University.
Since 1994, Dr. Biçici has pursued an active academic career, serving for many years as a lecturer and faculty member at Afyon Kocatepe University and Gaziantep University. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2020.
His academic research primarily focuses on the History of the Republic of Türkiye, Turkish political life, nationalism, the Turkish War of Independence, and regional history studies. He has published numerous national and international articles, books, and book chapters. His scholarly contributions particularly address Republican-era political structures, members of parliament, migration, security, identity, and processes of social transformation.
In addition to leading various scientific research projects, Dr. Biçici has supervised numerous master's and doctoral theses, contributing to the training of new academic scholars. He has also held several administrative positions within Gaziantep University. His research approach combines rigorous historical analysis with a broader perspective on social transformation.
