Kleine-Levin Syndrome: Case Report

Abstract

Kleine-Levin syndrome (KLS) is a rare disorder with symptoms that include periodic hypersomnia, cognitive and behavioural disturbances. All patients showed significant electroencephalographic (EEG) and polysomnographic changes during the episodes and had normal results in the interval. We report a case of young male presenting with episodes of undue sleep along with emotional disorders and excessive food intake. Our patient's examination with EEG revealed slow wave activity. The polysomnography study revealed frequent awakenings. We reported this case because of KLS is rare disorder.

Kleine-Levin Sendromu: Olgu Sunumu

Öz

Kleine-Levine sendromu (KLS) periyodik hipersomni, kognitif değişiklikler ve davranış bozukluklarını içeren, nadir görülen bir sendromdur. Bütün hastaların elektroensefalografi (EEG) ve polisomnografi incelemeleri ataklar esnasında tipik değişiklikler içerirken, ataklar arasında normal bulunur. Biz bu bildiride aşırı uyuma, emosyonel bozukluklar ve aşırı yeme şeklinde atakları olan genç bir erkek olguyu sunuyoruz. Hastanın EEG incelemesi yavaş dalga aktivitesi ile uyumlu bulundu. Polisomnografi çalışmasında sık uyanma izlendi. Nadir görülen bir sendrom olması nedeniyle sunuma değer bulundu.
