Level of Ionized Calcıum In Patients Having Bacterial and Voral Meningitis At Icu

Abstract

Objectives: The previous studies have been shown that ionized hypocalcemia is related to mortality and APACHE II score. Our goal was to evaluate the levels of serum ionized calcium (iCAL) in patients with bacterial and viral meningitis at ICU. Materials and Methods: 30 patients diagnosed as meningitis syndrome in ICU were reviewed retrospectively for their levels of iCAL. The patients were divided into bacterial (Group I) and viral meningitis (Group II) groups. Results: There was no difference in demographic data, treatment periods at ICU and superinfection periods of groups. When they came to ICU, levels of iCAL and APACHE II scores were respectively 0.665 ± 0.145 and 20.8 ± 13.3 in group I and 1.052 ± 0.107 and 28.3 ± 13.3 in group II. Yoğun Bakımda Bakteriyal ve Viral Menenjitli Hastalarda Serum İyonize Kalsiyum Düzeyi

Öz

Amaç: Yapılan çalışmalarda iyonize hipokalseminin yoğun bakım hastalarında mortalite ve APACHE II skoru ile ilişkili olduğu gösterilmiştir. Bu çalışmada yoğun bakımda bakteriyal ve viral menenjitli hastalarda serum iyonize kalsiyum (iKAL) düzeyinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi'nde (YBÜ) menenjit tanısı ile takip edilen 30 hastanın iKAL düzeylerinin, retrospektif olarak değerlendirilmesiyle yapıldı. Hastalar bakteriyal (Grup I) ve viral menenjit (Grup II ) olarak iki gruba ayrıldı. Bulgular: Grupların demografik verileri, YBÜ'de kalış süreleri ve süperenfeksiyon gelişme süreleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık yoktu.
