Isolated Tuberculous Prostatitis: A Case Report

Abstract

Isolated tuberculous prostatitis is a rare clinical condition. A 42-year old male admitted with the complaints of premature ejaculation and perineal pain during sexual intercourse to the Urology Department of our hospital. The patient had no evidence of past or present pulmonary tuberculosis. Another focus for tuberculosis could not be found except prostate gland in spite of all investigation with history, physical examination, chest X-ray, intravenous pyelography (IVP). It was seen acid-fast bacilli in the prostate secretion of the patient. Therefore, the case was diagnosed as isolated prostate tuberculosis.©2006, Fırat Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi

Abstract

İzole tüberküloz prostatit oldukça nadir bir klinik durumdur. 42 yaşında erkek hasta prematür ejakülasyon ve cinsel ilişki sırasında artan perineal ağrı yakınmaları ile Üroloji Kliniğine başvurdu. Hastada tüberküloz öyküsü yoktu. Hastanın prostat sekresyonunda asido-rezistan basil (ARB) görülmesi; öykü, fizik muayene ve klinik bulgularda prostatite özgü bulguların dışında bulgu olmaması, akciğer grafisi, abdominal ultrasonografi ve intravenöz piyelografi incelemelerinde prostat dışı herhangi bir odakta tüberküloz lezyonuna rastlanmaması nedeniyle olgu izole tüberküloz prostatit olarak tanımlandı.©2006, Fırat Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi
