Minor Traumas of First Grade at Elementary School and Nasal Septum Deviation

Abstract

Objectives: To investigate the risk factors for nasal septum deviation and the incidence of septum deviation in first and second grade of elementary school children Materials and Methods: This study included 3675 children from the first elementary school of the centre of Elazığ. Otolaryngological physical examination were made to all of the children by the same doctor. The students with nasal septum deviations were recorded. Information about the school succes and behaviour condition of the children were inquired from teachers. Results: Nasal septal deviations were determined in 131 of 2042 (%6.4 ) of first and 169 of 1633 of second class students. Okulun İlk Yılındaki Minör Travmalar ve Nazal Septum Deviasyonu

Abstract

Amaç: Nazal septum deviasyonunun ilköğretim birinci ve ikinci sınıf öğrencilerinde görülme sıklığı karşılaştırarak, bu yaş gurubunda nazal septum deviasyonu oluşumunda rol alan risk faktörlerini incelemek. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmaya, Elazığ merkez ilköğretim okullarında öğrenim gören toplam 3675 çocuk alındı. Tüm öğrencilere okullarında, aynı ekip tarafından kulak burun boğaz muayenesi yapıldı. Nazal septum deviasyonu tespit edilen öğrenciler kaydedildi. Bu öğrencilerin okul başarı durumları ve okuldaki davranış kalıpları hakkında öğretmenlerinden bilgi alındı. Bulgular: 2042 birinci sınıf öğrencisinin 131' inde (%6.4 ), 1633 ikinci sınıf öğrencisinin ise 169' unda (%10.3 ) nazal septum deviasyonu tespit edildi. Birinci ve ikinci sınıf öğrencileri arasında septal deviasyon sıklığı açısından tespit edilen fark istatiksel olarak anlamlıydı (p0.05). Tartışma: Okul çağının ilk yılı olan ilköğretim birinci sınıf büyük bir çocuk popülasyonunun bir arada bulunduğu bir ortamdır. Fasial travmadan en fazla etkilenen organ burundur. Bu durum nazal septum deviasyonu ile sonuçlanabilmektedir. Sonuç: Sınıf içerisinde ve sınıf dışında travma riskini azaltacak önlemlerin alınmasının, gerek nazal septum deviasyonu gerek ise daha önemli yaralanmaları önleyebileceği düşüncesindeyiz. ©2005, Fırat Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi
