Foveal Hypoplasia Detected by Optical Coherence Tomography: Two Case Report

Abstract

Foveal hypoplasia is described as the lack of foveal depression with continuity of all neurosensory retinal layers in the presumed foveal area. In this paper, two case with foveal hypoplasia were presented. At the multiple retinal scans obtained from foveal areas of two cases, it was observed that foveal pits were not present and that the iner retinal layers which there were not normally in fovea were continued in fovea as extrafoveal region in optical coherence tomography. Optical coherence tomography is useful examination method for the detection of foveal hypoplasia for suspected cases.

Optik Koherens Tomografide Foveal Hipoplazi: İki Olgu Sunumu

Abstract

Foveal hipoplazi fovea olduğu öngörülen alanda tüm nörosensoriyal retinal tabakaların devamlılığıyla birlikte foveal çukurluğun olmaması olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu yazıda foveal hipoplazili iki olgu sunulmuştur. Optik koherens tomografide, iki olgunun foveal bölgelerinden elde edilmiş çok sayıdaki retinal kesitlerde, foveal çukurlukların olmadığı ve foveada normalde olmayan iç retinal tabakaların fovea dışı bölgedeki gibi foveada da devam ettiği gözlendi. Optik koherens tomografi şüphelenilen vakalarda foveal hioplazinin saptanması için yararlı bir inceleme metodudur.
