Aydın İlinde Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. niveum’un (FON) Irkları

Year 2017, Volume: 46 Issue: 1, 33 - 41, 14.11.2017

Abstract

Physiological Races of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. melonis in Çeşme Melon Producing Areas of Urla Peninsula, Turkey

Year 2017, Volume: 46 Issue: 1, 33 - 41, 14.11.2017

Abstract

Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.
niveum
(FON) is a common soil-borne disease in the watermelon production
areas of the Aydın Province in Turkey. In this study, a total of 73 pathogenic F. o. f.sp. niveum isolates were sampled from the vicinities of the Aydın
Province in 2010 and 2011. Races of FON isolates were detected by using the differential
watermelon cultivars Sugar Baby, Charleston Gray, Calhoun Gray and
PI-296341-FR.
Two-week-old seedlings of differential cultivars
were root-dipped in spore suspansion with 1×106 microconidia/ml of
each of the isolates. After inoculation, the plants were observed for yellowing
and wilting. Results of this study evidenced that three races of FON exists in
the Aydın Province. Among 73 isolates, 21 were designated as Race 0, 27 as Race
1 and 25 and as Race 2. Race 3, the most virulent race of FON, was not detected.
