THE EFFECT TO OXIDATION BEHAVIOUR OF ALLOY ELEMENTS IN THE Cu – BASED SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS
Abstract
High temperature oxidation behaviours of with four different composition Cu-based shape memory alloys have been investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in the temperature range of 150 °C - 900 °C under air atmosphere. Depending on the heating rate and the alloying elements types, the weight gains of the powdered samples were investigated and the oxidation rates have been determined by TGA. The results indicate that increasing of Al content in the alloys and increasing the heating rate, increase the rate of oxidation.
