Abstract

Current economic crises which is the deepest since the foundation of the Turkish Republic is deepening. To avoid further economic and would-be political problems that may take place in near future, certain measures should be taken by the government.Among these , alterations on the current taxation policy, if available, seems to be the most urgent one, as the public debt policy, currently pursued is coming to an end with no success at all. At this context, reducing current tax rates on both income and expenditures seems to be the most viable and feasible fiscal measure in the short-run in an harmony with tax-base broadening strategy in the long-run. Furthermore, some specific fiscal measures i.e. abolishing or at least reducing witholding tax rate on investment allowance are needed to help the economy recover.
