In
the retail sector, the fresh food products such as meat, dairy products etc.
that have high sales volume and are consumed daily should be paid attention by
retailers in many respects. Therefore, working with the right supplier in these
products is very critical. The aim of this study is to determine the
prioritized criteria for the selection of fresh food suppliers. Initially, 10
experts in three-retail chain, one from a local retail chain in Mugla Region,
other two from national and international chains, were interviewed; the results
were compared with the criteria in the literature. In order to compare and
determine the importance of these criteria, the questionnaire applied to 60
experts and, the results were analyzed by AHP method. As a result, quality,
dispatching, cost, company profile and service arose as the most important main
criteria respectively.
