Abstract

Etilenglikol (EG) zehirlenmesine ülkemizde çok nadir rastlanmaktadır. EG, dihidrik alkoller grubundan, renksiz, kokusuz, tatlı ve suda çözünen bir maddedir. Kaza ile alımı ya da suisid amaçlı olarak alınması sonucu, şiddetli metabolik asidoz, santral sinir sistemi depresyonu ve akut böbrek yetmezliği ile giden klinik tablo ortaya çıkarabilir. Kaza ile antifriz içtikten sonra EG zehirlenmesine bağlı olarak metabolik asidoz ve ensefalopati tablosu gelişmiş nadir görülen bir olguyu sunduk.

Metabolic ensephalopathy with Ethylene glycol (antifreeze) intoxication: A case report

Abstract

Ethylene glycol (EG) intoxication seems rarely in our country. It is a colorless, odourless, sweety substance which a member of dihydric alchols and dissolves with water. Metabolic asidosis, central nervous system depression and acute renal failure occure after accidental or for suicidal intake. We wrote about a EG intoxcication with methabolic asidosis and ensephalopathy after antifreeze ingestion accidentally.
