Abstract

Haloperidol is a typical antipsychotic drug, that is frequently used in psychosis, Tourette syndrome and severe agitations and has anticholinergic effects and extrapyramidal signs in case of intoxication. The present paper reports a case of hemidystonia and green color vision caused by mistaken haloperidol ingestion as an analgesic agent in a 12 years old boy. Herein we would like to emphasise that the dystonia might be misdiagnosed as convulsion in emergency rooms and phonetic similarities of the brand names of the drugs may mislead the physician and cause for delay of the appropriate therapy, so to ask the family about the ingestion of drugs that are ended with "-dol" (EndolTM, indomethacine) for differential diagnosis.

Yanlışlıkla Analjezik Amaçlı Kullanılan Haloperidol

Year 2015, Volume: 5 Issue: 3, 203 - 205, 28.04.2015
