Use of Cassava and Products in Animal Nutrition

Abstract

Cassava is a plant originating from South America and is known under various names: Manihot esculenta, manioc, yucca and tapioca. The tubers (part of the root system) and the leaves are used as food sources. It is an important staple in many developing countries of Africa, South and Central America, India and Southeast Asia. In this paper, feeding studies made on the cassava and cassava products used in nutrition of various animal species have been reviewed.

Abstract

Cassava, orjini Güney Amerika olan bir bitki olup, Manihot esculenta, maniok, yukka ve tapiyoka gibi çesitli isimlerle adlandırılmaktadır. Kök kısmının bir parçası ve yaprakları, yem kaynagı olarak kullanılmakta olup, Afrika, Güney ve Kuzey Amerika, Hindistan ile Güneydogu Asya gibi ülkelerde baslıca üründür. Bu makalede, hayvan beslemede kullanılan cassava ve ürünleri ile bu yem maddeleriyle çesitli hayvanlar üzerinde yapılan besleme çalısmaları ele alınmıstır.
