Determination of suitable harvesting height in basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) genotypes

Abstract

In the crops harvested twice or more in one vegetation, harvesting height is an important factor effecting subsequent growing and herbage yields of plants. It was aimed in the research to determine suitable harvesting height and adaptation capability of three local basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) genotypes (Zonguldak, Antalya ve Mersin) in Tokat ecological conditions. Three different harvesting heights (5 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm) were evaluated in the research. The research was conducted in 2001 and 2002 vegetation periods. According to the results, harvesting height affected significantly all studied characters, and it was determined to be suitable 10 and 15 cm harvesting heights for total dried herbage yields and total drog leaf yields. Plants harvested in 5 cm height gave lower herbage yield and essential oil contents. It was concluded that two local genotypes (Zonguldak and Mersin) could be sucessfully grown Tokat ecological conditions

Reyhan (Ocimum basilicum L.) Genotiplerinde Uygun Biçim Yüksekliklerinin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Vejetasyon boyunca birden fazla hasat edilen bitkilerde, biçim yüksekliği bitkilerin sonraki gelişimini ve verimi etkileyen önemli bir faktördür. Denemede, üç Reyhan (Ocimum basilicum L.) genotipinde (Zonguldak, Antalya ve Mersin), üç farklı biçim yüksekliğinin (5 cm, 10 cm ve 15 cm) etkileri araştırılmıştır. Araştırma, 2001 ve 2002 vejetasyon dönemlerinde Tokat Kazova ekolojik koşullarında yürütülmüştür. Deneme sonuçlarına göre, biçim yüksekliklerinin incelenen özelliklere etkisi önemli olmuş ve 10 ve 15 cm yüksekteki biçimlerin toplam kuru herba ve kuru yaprak verimleri için uygun olduğu belirlenmiştir. 5 cm yükseklikte yapılan biçimler, verim ve uçucu yağ oranlarını düşürmüştür. Ayrıca, Zonguldak orijinli 1 nolu genotip ile Mersin orijinli 3 nolu genotipin, Tokat ekolojik koşulları için uygun genotipler olduğu belirlenmiştir.
