Investigations on the effect to the frost resistance of some walnut varieties of potassium sulphate fertilizer
Abstract
This study was carried out at Tokat Affairs Research Institution in 1998 and 1999, to determine the effect of potassium sulphate application at different rates on the frost resistance of Yalova walnut varieties. Potassium sulphate was applied in 25 or 30 centimetres deeps of soil as active doses 0, 300, 600 and 900 g K20 per tree on March 1998. One year old shoots were taken once in 1998 on December and January, February and March in 1999. After that shoots were exposured in frost tests at -25 °C for 8,16 and 24 hours periods. The highest active bud rate was obtained with 900 g K20 application per tree. The active bud ratios of female flower 55.35 % , 48.67 % and 36.50 % were obtained for varieties 29/B-4, 198/110 and 170/B-16, respectively. The active bud ratios of male flowers were found at the same application as 37.95 %(29/B-4), 36.62 % (198/110) and 23.80 % (170/B-16). Generally, the highest active bud ratio was found on the 29/B-4 variety and the lowest active bud ratio was found on the 170/B-16 variety in the both male and female flowers.
Abstract
1998-1999 yıllarında Tokat Köy Hizmetleri Araştırma Enstitüsü’nde yürütülen bu çalışma, farklı dozlarda uygulanan potasyum siilfat gübresinin Yalova grubu ceviz çeşitlerinin soğuğa dayanımına etkisini saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. 1998 yılı Mart ayında ağaç başına aktif madde olarak 0, 300, 600 ve 900 g K20 25-30 cm toprak derinliğine potasyum sülfat şeklinde uygulanmıştır. Gübre uygulamasından sonra 1998 Aralık ve 1999 yılı Ocak, Şubat ve Mart aylarında ayda bir kez alınan bir yıllık sürgünler -25 °C de 8, 16, 24 saat süreyle suni don testlerine tabi tutulmuşlardır. 900 g gübre uygulamasında meyve tomurcuklarındaki canlılık yüzdeleri 29/B-4 çeşidinde % 55.35, 198/110 çeşidinde % 48.67 ve 170/B-I6 çeşidinde ise % 36.50 olarak gerçekleşmiştir. Yine 900 g gübre uygulamasında erkek çiçek tomurcuklarındaki canlılık oranları 29/B-4 çeşidinde % 37.95, 198/110 çeşidinde % 36.62 ve 170/B-16 çeşidinde ise % 23.80 olarak gerçekleşmiştir. Diğer tüm gübre dozları uygulamalarında da çeşitlerdeki bu canlılık yüzdeleri sıralaması değişmemiştir. Genel olarak hem meyve tomurcuklarında hem de erkek çiçek tomurcuklarında en yüksek canlılık yüzdesi 29/B-4 çeşidinde sağlanırken, en düşük canlılık yüzdesi ise 170/B-16 çeşidinde görülmüştür.
