Balalik-tepe, Özbekistan’ın en güney ucunda, Afganistan sınırına yakın, bugünkü Surhanderya vilayetinin yönetim merkezi Termiz şehrinin kuzeyinde, ondan yaklaşık 30 km uzaklıkta bulunan Angar tümeni (ilçesi)ndeki eski şehir kalıntısının adıdır. Özbek Türkçesindeki sözcük anlamı “Çocuklu tepe” olan bu tarihî yadigarlık miladî 5.-6. yüzyıllara ait olup, birçok uzmanlarca Orta Asya’daki İslam öncesi vaha devletlerinden biri olan Termiz-Şahlar sülalesiyle ilişkilendirilmektedir.
Balalik-tepe is the name of the old city ruins in the Angar division (district) located at the southernmost tip of Uzbekistan, close to the border with Afghanistan, to the north of the city of Termiz, the administrative center of today's Surkhandarya province, about 30 km from it. This historical heirloom, whose word meaning in Uzbek Turkish is "Children's hill", was built between the 5th and 6th centuries AD. centuries, and is associated by many experts with the Termiz-Shahs dynasty, one of the pre-Islamic oasis states in Central Asia.Archaeologist and art historian Albaum, who first examined the Balalik-tepe paintings, emphasizes that the majority of the male and female depictions in the aforementioned paintings bear close resemblance to the pre-Islamic Central Asian wall paintings such as Afrasiyab (Samarkand), Pencikent, Acine-tepe (Tajikistan). He wrote that the old Turkish balbals have similar aspects to their external appearance.
