Bina Kabuğu Tasarımının Sürdürülebilir Mimari Üzerindeki Etkisi

Year 2025, Volume: 13 Issue: 2, 155 - 171, 30.06.2025

Abstract

The Impact of Building Envelope Design on Sustainable Architecture

Year 2025, Volume: 13 Issue: 2, 155 - 171, 30.06.2025

Abstract

The building envelope plays a very important role in shaping the identity of buildings by providing interaction with users, stimulating ideas, and arousing curiosity. People have been working to produce materials to improve the building envelope since the early times. As a result of these studies, environmental pollution and carbon emissions have grown so much since the Industrial Revolution that a worldwide need for an environmentally friendly approach has emerged. Sustainable material innovation is a key focus in the environmentally friendly design process. Sustainable architecture has developed under the influence of lifestyles, geographical conditions, social and physical needs, and economic reasons. In addition, the materials that emerged for the purpose of discovering environmentally friendly building design have a great impact on the design of the building envelope. There has been a great change in building designs with the opportunities provided by new materials. The aim of this research is to investigate the effects of materials used in sustainable building designs by examining many examples of the historical evolution of materials. The process from the materials used in the early ages to the present day has been examined in detail. In addition, the research investigates the effects of nanotechnological materials on the design of the building envelope and emphasizes their potential to increase energy efficiency, durability, and environmental performance in line with future sustainability goals. In this context, the methods followed regarding the issue are determined and possible solutions are discussed.
