It is unanimously agreed that human being is the most superior, the
most estimable and dignified creature. Yet, it is impossible to say that all of
those who hold differen views are in aggreement on the issue of
valuejudgement and the criteria of superiority. While considering a certain
person, the Qur’an severely criticizes applying arbitrary and subjective
value judgements.
In this article, the criticism levelled by the Qur’an against those use
arbitrary criteria in tehir consideration of the others, the raeson and
content of these criticism and the alternatives put forward in the Qur’an
are dealt with. To this effect, in our study, together with the Qur’an, we will
analyze main Qur’anic Commentaries such as al-Tabari’s Jami al-bayan, alRazi’s
Mefatihu’l-ghaib, İbn Kathir’s Tafsiru’l-Kur’an. On the other hand,
major hadith collections, like al-Bukhari’s, al-Jami al-sahih and al-Tirmidhi’s
and bayhaki’s Sunan are among the hadith sources of our study.
