Abstract

This study deals with the importance of the imperative mood to understand religious and literary texts and addresses the necessity of teaching 'the imperative mood' -which must be given as a separate stylistics class- first before other grammatical rules. Furthermore, this study focuses on the imperative and subjunctive moods from the viewpoints of grammarians, rhetoricians and fuqaha. This study indicates the necessity of teaching primarily anything regarding to the imperative style what/how Arabs use (such as a style of imperative mood's aim or a meaning which is inferred from the context or particles) and examines the role of the imperative style class in the teaching programs of foreign languages and the essence of the imperative style's teaching method. As a difference from others, this study also offers an exemplary lesson for the clause style in the imperative mood
