Objective: The aim of the study was to identify thehygienic habits and alternative applicationmethods of the mothers of the children who werediagnosed for repeated urinary tract infection UTI .Method: The study was conducted with the 68mothers of 0-5 age group children who werediagnosed for repeated UTI at the pediatricpolyclinic of a state hospital in the Eastern BlackSea region. The study is descriptive, and the datawere obtained between February 1 and March 1,2009. The mothers of the children who hadanatomical disorders, long-term treatmentsbecause of other chronic diseases, and urinarycatheter were excluded.Results: The relationships between mother's ageand her way of cleaning the child; frequency ofthe child's diagnosis for UTI and gender of thechild, breast feeding, laundry detergent,diapering, mother's habit of dressing the childwith socks, and regular use of antibiotics; andeducation and regular use of antibiotics andalternative treatment approach were found to bestatistically significant p
