Determination of Professional Awareness Levels in Orthotics and Prosthesis Department Students

Abstract

This study was planned to evaluate the professional awareness levels of the students of Health Sciences University, Gülhane Faculty
of Health Sciences, Department of Orthotics and Prosthesis. 86 students of Orthotics and Prosthesis Department participated in the
study. In this cross-sectional study, after questioning the descriptive characteristics of the volunteer students using the online form, A Çaprofessional
awareness questionnaire created by the authors by scanning the literature and consisting of 17 multiple-choice questions was
applied. In addition, as it may affect professional awareness, parameters such as the researches of the students about the profession and the
reason for choosing this department were questioned. Participants were also asked about their level of satisfaction with being placed in
the department. It was seen that 54.3% of the questions of the professional awareness questionnaire were answered correctly. The correct
answer rates of the second year students were significantly higher (p<0.05). Among the factors affecting the choice of profession of the
participants, being a profession that could help other people, their interests and job opportunities were at the forefront. Most participants
stated that their individual characteristics were appropriate with the department and they were satisfied with the department. The fact that
the level of professional awareness is low in some subjects, despite the fact that research is done before choosing, suggests that approaches
to raising awareness are necessary.

Ortez ve Protez Bölümü Öğrencilerinde Mesleki Farkındalık Düzeylerinin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Gülhane Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Ortez ve Protez Bölümü öğrencilerinin mesleki farkındalık
düzeylerini değerlendirmek amacıyla planlandı. Çalışmaya 86 Ortez ve Protez bölümü öğrencisi katıldı. Bu kesitsel çalışmada çevrimiçi
form kullanılarak gönüllü öğrencilerin tanımlayıcı özellikleri sorgulandıktan sonra 17 çoktan seçmeli sorudan oluşan, yazarlar tarafından
literatür taranarak oluşturulan mesleki farkındalık anketi uygulandı. Ayrıca mesleki farkındalığı etkileyebileceği için öğrencilerin meslekle
ilgili yaptıkları araştırmalar, bu bölümü tercih etme nedeni gibi parametreler sorgulandı. Katılımcıların bölüme yerleşmekten dolayı
duydukları memnuniyet düzeyleri de soruldu. Mesleki farkındalık anketinin sorularının %54,3’üne doğru cevap verildiği görüldü. İkinci
sınıf öğrencilerinin doğru yanıt oranları anlamlı düzeyde daha fazla idi (p<0,05). Katılımcıların meslek seçiminde etkili olan faktörler
arasında diğer insanlara yardım edilebilecek bir meslek olması, ilgi alanı ve iş olanakları ön planda idi. Çoğu katılımcı bireysel özelliklerinin
bölümle uygun olduğunu ve bölümde okumaktan memnun olduğunu belirtti. Tercih etmeden önce araştırma yapılmasına rağmen
mesleki farkındalık düzeyinin bazı konularda düşük olması, farkındalığı artırmaya yönelik uygulanacak yaklaşımların gerekli olduğunu
düşündürmektedir.
