Aim: The aim of the research is to determine the level of innovation and
entrepreneurship tendencies of the nursing students and the relationship
between them. Material-Method: The
universe of the cross-sectional and descriptive study consisted of 189 students
enrolled in the fourth year of a nursing faculty. The sample was determined by
the disproportionate cluster sampling method and all the students enrolled in
the fourth class were included in the study. Data were collected using
"Information Form", "Individual Innovation Scale" and
"Entrepreneurship Tendency Scale". The data were analyzed using
frequency-scaling, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, correlation analysis in
the SPSS program. Results: The
average age of the students is 21,94 ± 0,92, 81,9% is female, 52,9 % is high
school graduate. Of the students, 27.7% had previously engaged in
entrepreneurial activity, 90.3% did not participate in any training on
entrepreneurship, 94.2% did not participate in any training on innovation,
92.3% of the respondents said that they did not take part in the health project,
30,3% followed the innovative practices in the health care system, 12,9% had
their own innovative product development idea, 37,4% wanted their own
innovative product development idea, 54,8% stated that innovative practices
will affect nursing practices in the future. In the study it was determined
that the students had low level of innovative, "interrogative" and
"pioneering" features (63.12 ±7.70) and entrepreneurship over the
middle (98.58±12.19). A moderately positive relationship was found between the
innovation levels of the students and the entrepreneurial tendencies (r=0,41, p=
0,000). Conclusion: The results showed
that nursing students had low levels of innovation, had questionable
characteristics against innovations, had entrepreneurship above the middle and
were open to entrepreneurship. In addition, it can be said that as the level of
innovation of students increases, entrepreneurial tendencies will increase in
the positive direction.
