Abstract

Yabancı dil öğretiminde kelime hazinesi dil becerilerinin gelişiminde etkilidir. Öğretilecek kelimelerin seçimi seviyeye uygun kullanılabilirliğine ve seviyeye uygun öğrenilebilirliğine göre gerçekleşmektedir. Bu çalışmada dil becerilerinden biri olan konuşma becerisi ele alınmıştır. Konuşma becerisinin geliştirilmesi için özellikle kelime hazinesinin zenginliği önemlidir. Zengin kelime varlığı konuşma becerisinin geliştirilmesinde etkili olacaktır. Böylece birey temel seviyeden itibaren kendini ifade yolu bulacak ve öğrenme isteği artacaktır. Kelime öğretimi için kullanılan en etkili araçlardan biri resimlerdir. Ancak kullanılacak resimlerin hedef ve seviyeye uygun olması gerektiği bilinmektedir. Bir resmin her seviyede farklı amaçlarla kullanılabileceği bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmada amaçlanan, kelime öğretimi aracılığıyla beceriyi geliştirme etkinliğinin sadece bir resim kullanılarak dil seviyesi ve taksonomik sınıflamaya uygun kullanımını örneklendirmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda uygulama örneğinde Avrupa Ortak Dil Kriterlerindeki seviyeler ve bilişsel alan için belirlenen Bloom taksonomisindeki sınıflandırma dikkate alınmıştır

Appropriateness of the Use of Pictures to Levels and Taxonomy in Teaching Vocabulary in a Foreign Language

Abstract

Vocabulary in foreign language teaching is effective in the development of language skills. Choices of the word which are to be taught are based on the level of availability and learnability of the words. In this study speaking skill which is one of the language skills is discussed. The richness of vocabulary is important especially for the development of speaking skills. The richness of voccabulary will be effective in the development of speaking skills. Thus, individuals will find ways to express themselves from the basic level and willingness to learn will increase. Pictures are the most effective tools for teaching new words. However, it’s known that the pictures have to be suitable for the main goal and the level of students. It’s known that a picture can be used for different purposes in different levels. The aim of this study is to illustrate the use of only one picture through the development of skills by teaching words according to the the compliance of language levels and taxonomic classification. For this purpose, the Common European Framework levels of language and cognitive criteria specified for the Bloom taxonomy classification are taken into account in the application instance
