SARSILMIŞ BEBEK SENDROMU

Abstract

Sarsılmış bebek sendromu, çocukların istismarından kaynaklanan
ölümlerin veya ciddi nörolojik yaralanmaların en yaygın nedenidir. Beyin
kanamaları ve göz içi kanamalar, bebeğe tanı koyma aşamasında önemli
belirleyicilerdir. İlk olarak Amerikalı bir radyolog olan John Caffey
tarafından 1974'te tanımlanmış ve sarsılmış bebek sendromu adını almıştır. O
zamandan beri, sarsılmış bebek sendromu, çocuklara yönelik istismarın en
şiddetli türlerinden biri olarak kabul edilmiş ve istismara uğrayan çocuklarda
sık rastlanan bir ölüm nedeni olmuştur. 
Bu nedenle, bebeklerde ortaya çıkan durumları tanımlamak için daha
yüksek bir farkındalığa ihtiyaç vardır. Sarsılmış bebek sendromu yüzde 100
önlenebilir bir sendromdur. Sendromun başarılı bir şekilde yönetilmesi ve
önlenmesi için çeşitli kurumlar arasında etkin işbirliği sağlanmalıdır. Bu
derleme çalışmasında sendromun tanısını ifade ederek toplumda farkındalık
yaratmak ve önlenmesine yönelik yapılan çalışmaları kapsamlı bir şekilde ortaya
koymak amaçlanmıştır.
