HALİTOZİS HEMŞİREYE ÇOK ŞEY SÖYLER Mİ?

Abstract

Halitozis
(ağız kokusu) hem bireyi hem de çevresindekileri rahatsız edebilen nefesteki
kokudur. Burun yoluyla çıkarılan havanın da halitosise dahil olduğu
belirtilmektedir. Halitozis bireylerde sosyal izolasyon, düşük benlik saygısı,
kişilerarası ilişkilerde bozulma gibi birçok sosyal ve psikolojik sorunlar
ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Halitozise neden olabilecek spesifik bir durum
tanımlanamamakla birlikte özellikle ağız mukozası, dil, dişler, dişeti,  kulak, burun, boğaz hastalıkları ile diyabet,
böbrek ve karaciğer yetersizliği gibi bazı sistemik hastalıkların da halitozise
neden olabildiği vurgulanmaktadır. Halitozis, yaşamı tehdit edici olmamasına
rağmen yaşam kalitesini olumsuz etkilediği bildirilmektedir. Oral kavitede bir
değişiklik, hasar ya da ağız hastalıkları, endokardit ve pnömoni gibi
enfeksiyon hastalıklarına, malnutrisyona, kilo kaybına ve halitozise neden
olabilmektedir. İyi bir ağız hijyeninin ve yeterli ağız bakımının sağlığın
sürdürülmesinde önemli olduğu vurgulanmaktadır. Oral mükoz membran bütünlüğünün
sağlanması ve sürdürülmesi, oral kavitenin değişimine neden olabilecek
faktörlerin hemşire tarafından tanılanması gerekmektedir. Hemşirelerin oral
hijyenin sağlanması, oral ülser, stomatit, diş eti inflamasyonu ve halitozis
gibi durumların önlenmesinde önemli sorumlulukları bulunmaktadır. Bu derlemede
konuya ilişkin son literatür doğrultusunda halitozis ve hemşirelik bakımı
üzerine genel bir değerlendirme yapılması amaçlandı.
