APİTERAPİ VE SPORCULARIN DİKKAT ETMESİ GEREKENLER

Year 2024, Volume: 2 Issue: 3, 57 - 67, 27.12.2024

Abstract

APITHERAPY AND CONSIDERATIONS FOR ATHLETES

Year 2024, Volume: 2 Issue: 3, 57 - 67, 27.12.2024

Abstract

The therapeutic use of bee products, known as apitherapy, has been utilized as a traditional and complementary treatment since ancient times. Due to the severe side effects caused by various drugs, people are increasingly turning to natural products, such as honey products, which they believe to be safer. Because of the biological properties of their components, bee products have become sought after by society for treating diseases such as cancer, infections, cardiovascular diseases, and for maintaining overall health. Among athletes, bee products are commonly used as a source of energy, for muscle development, and for rapid recovery following intense exercise. Although bee products are widely favored for these benefits, studies have shown that they may also have some side effects. Therefore, especially for athletes, due to conditions that may affect performance, the use of bee products should be guided by the recommendations and advice of healthcare providers and experts. This review will discuss the benefits of bee products, address potential side effects with a focus on athletes, and provide various recommendations.
