KOSTANIN DEV HÜCRELİ KEMİK TÜMÖRÜ: TOTAL EKSİZYON VE REKONSTRÜKSİYON PLAĞI İLE TORAKS DUVARI STABİLİZASYONU

Year 2010, Volume: 24 Issue: 3, 185 - 189, 01.12.2010

Abstract

GIANT CELL BONE TUMOUR OF RIB: TOTAL EXCISION AND STABILIZATION OF THORACIC DEFECT WITH RECONSTRUCTION PLAQUE

Year 2010, Volume: 24 Issue: 3, 185 - 189, 01.12.2010

Abstract

Giant cell tumors of the bone are rare neoplasms. And approximately 5% of all bone neoplasms and usually originates from the epiphysis of long bones. Only 0.5-0.6% of the giant cell tumor are located in the rib and usually located on posterior arc. Although rare, giant cell tumor should be considered in the differential diagnosis of the chest wall mass. Stabilization with reconstruction plaque of the is may be reasonable alternative chosen for big chest wall defect due to wide resections on the chest wall tumours. We report a case of the 23-years old man who was found to giant cell tumor originating from the anterior arc of the third and fourth ribs. The tumor and the surrounding chest wall were completely resected, and the chest wall defect was stabilized with reconstruction plaque.
