DRIVERS OF ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTIONS AMONGST GENERATION Y STUDENTS IN ZIMBABWE
Abstract
This article examines the influence of four factors, namely, personal attitude,
subjective norms, perceived behavioural control and entrepreneurship education
on entrepreneurial intentions amongst Generation Y students in Zimbabwe. A
quantitative approach was followed using a sample consisting of 200 conveniently
drawn Generation Y students from Great Zimbabwe University. Hypotheses were
tested using the structural equation modelling procedure. The results show that
personal attitudes, perceived behavioural control and entrepreneurship education
significantly predict entrepreneurship intentions. Subjective norms did not show
any significant predictive relationship with entrepreneurship intentions. The
results of the study can be used as a tool to boost entrepreneurship amongst young
people in developing countries.
