A Value Engineering Applicaton for Cost and Quality Improvement in Domestic Type Gas Hobs

Year 2019, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 87 - 98, 15.07.2019

Abstract

Value engineering is a systematic approach
that aims to analyze the functions of systems, equipment and services in a way
that provides the required performance, quality and reliability at the lowest
cost. In the study, a change in the design and material of the house type top
gas cooktop component was made with the value engineering approach. Function
analysis, cost analysis, function-value-benefit analysis were performed at the
beginning of the study; by this way, it was decided that component cost
improvement would be made at which cost improvement. In the next stage, cost
reduction was realized by making the gas taps from aluminum material instead of
brass material and by making design improvements to reduce the amount of
aluminum material used in the burner room by 10%. In the study, it was observed
that the use of expensive and high amount of materials caused a cost increase. On
the other hand, process faults caused by brass burr were prevented from at the
aluminium taps and combustion efficiency was increased over 6% in burner rooms
designed by reducing aluminum usage amount by 10%.

Ev Tipi Set Üstü Gazlı Ocaklarda Maliyet ve Kalite İyileştirme Amaçlı Bir Değer Mühendisliği Uygulaması

Year 2019, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 87 - 98, 15.07.2019
