Abstract
Rural architecture is the cultural values produced by meeting the human needs specific to the region and the place with the architecture. The most important factor in ensuring the continuity of this architecture can be expressed as the ability to live with the respect people have for the environment and nature. In recent years, factors such as the oblivion of this tissue and economic inadequacies cause migration of the villages and the loss of their traditional values over time. The main subject of this study is the Ihsaniye Village of Iznik, which is one of the regions that struggles with these problems and where the continuity of local architecture is ensured. Ihsaniye Village, which can protect itself until today due to the homogeneous structure of the village, has a structure that reveals the effect of the geography on the architectural culture because it is a mountain village. The aim of the study is to increase the value of traditional buildings in the literature in order not to forget the local architectural elements, and to develop site-specific suggestions by examining the solutions of international institutions to economic and social difficulties while protecting the natural structure in this region. At the same time, it provides information about the architectural language of this region and provides a basis for future studies. The plan and facade conditions of the houses in the village texture were examined. Plan schemes were created for 4 houses that could be entered and analyzed in detail. Thus, the study aimed to raise awareness for the protection of the region, to contribute to the literature, and to create suggestions for the preservation of rural architectural texture.
