A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON SEWAGE SLUDGE ASH AFFECTING FABRIC/EPOXY COMPOSITES MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF GLASS FABRIC/EPOXY COMPOSITES

Abstract

The effects of sewage sludge ash (SSA) and silicon carbide (SiC) particles on the mechanical properties of S-glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites were investigated. Composite laminate samples for tensile and flexural were prepared and tested according to ASTM standards tests. The results showed that, the tensile and flexural strength were optimum at SSA content of 10 wt% by 8.4% and 33.1% compared to 1.5% and 24.2% with SiC content of 10 wt% and 5 wt%, respectively. Tensile and flexural modulus values of the composites were enhanced compared with the unfilled composite
