RESEARCH INTO THE USE OF LED LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY IN VEGETABLE PRODUCTION

Year 2025, Volume: 10 Issue: 2, 59 - 75

Abstract

The utilization of LED lighting has been demonstrated to be more energy-efficient than traditional incandescent light bulbs. The enhanced efficiency of this approach can be attributed to the integration of LED lighting in interior gardening applications, thereby ensuring a well-organized aspect. The utilization of LED lighting is of paramount importance in the realm of sustainable energy utilization, despite the fact that it demands a greater quantity of energy to produce an equivalent amount of light. In addition, the utilization of LED lighting has the capacity to diminish the environmental repercussions of carbon emissions, thereby facilitating the establishment of a sustainable future. In comparison to conventional garden lighting, LED lighting offers a number of advantages, including its versatility, its ability to provide light, and its capacity to transform energy. As novel advancements in efficiency are made, the merits of these systems become increasingly evident. It is therefore important to consider the impact that garden lighting has on the environment, and to take action to reduce the carbon footprint of lighting in the home. It is imperative to recognize the pivotal role of daylight in promoting plant growth and development. The utilization of LED artificial lighting has the potential to enhance plant growth, thereby facilitating the cultivation of higher yields. This is facilitated by the increased energy efficiency of LED lighting, which in turn can contribute to the enhancement of agricultural productivity. The purpose of this review is to examine the potential of LED lighting technology in greenhouses and other horticultural environments, with a focus on plant lighting. The impact of LED lighting on plant enzyme performance, gene expression and cell wall formation is of particular interest. The present study investigates the effects of LED lighting on plant growth, focusing on the advantages of this technology. This study explores the potential of LED lighting technology in greenhouses and other horticultural settings, with a particular emphasis on its impact on plant defense mechanisms, gene expression, and cell wall formation. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the role of LED lighting in enhancing the quality and efficiency of plant harvesting.
