Abstract
The research was made in purpose of analyzing mathematical competences of secondary school students in terms of various variables. Research data which was conducted in compliance with quantitative research method and survey research design was obtained from 758 students who have received their education at secondary schools in central districts in Ankara during spring term of 2020-2021 Academic Year. “Scale on Mathematical Competence for Secondary School Students” which consists of four aspects, 34 items were used in purpose of gathering data in research. SPSS 23 package was used in analysis of data which was obtained from the participants in accordance with research goal. T-test and Anova test were used for the determination of differences between frequency, percentage and arithmetic mean and independent variables from descriptive statistics on data which was obtained. As a result of analyses which were made through the collected data, it was determined that mathematical competences of participants didn’t differ in variables such as gender, receiving private math lesson, going to training center/course for math lesson, while mathematical competences of participants significantly differed in variable of their grade and their pass marks on math lesson. From the point of these results, it is suggested that studies which are designed with different methods and designs are made to determine why mathematical competences of students who are at secondary school level differed in their grades and pass marks on math lesson.
