EVALUATION OF 2017 PRIMARY SCHOOL LIFE SCIENCE LESSON CURRICULUM ACCORDING TO OPINIONS OF TEACHER CANDIDATES
Abstract
Life science course brings to elementary school students knowledge, skills and emotional characteristics. Unlike other courses, prepares students for the course in the upper levels of education. It also makes them a qualified school process and equipped individuals for daily life. Such an important curriculum should be prepared in accordance with program development approaches. It also needs to incorporate modern methods and techniques and approaches and carry out the current understanding of education. The aim of the study was determined to evaluate of 2017 primary school life science lesson curriculum according to opinions of teacher candidates. The study group of the study is composed of 40 class teacher candidates who are studying in the last semester. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher. These data were also evaluated by means of content analysis. The most important findings obtained as a result of the research are that the program does not have the necessary and sufficient approaches in the skills and values acquisition process, that teachers do not provide the necessary support and some skills and values should be added to the program.
