Analysis of Children's Literature Books According to Critical Thinking Dimensions

Abstract

The scope of this research involves an investigate and interpret the award-winning children's books in terms of including critical thinking skills. The method of the research was determined as the document analysis method in this thesis. The data from the award-winning children's books were analyzed and interpreted according to the cognitive and affective strategies of critical thinking skills 35 dimensions of critical thinking developed by Paul et al. were used as the scale of the research during the Analysis. Award-winning children's books selected as the scope of the thesis were examined in terms of critical thinking dimensions. According to the final analysis, it was determined that these books include most of the dimensions in the cognitive and affective strategies of critical thinking. As a conclusion, the analysis revealed that the award-winning children's books were appropriate in quality and quantity in terms of including critical thinking skills. As a suggestion, others award-winning books can be studied for the further searches.

Çocuk Edebiyatı Kitaplarının Eleştirel Düşünme Boyutlarına Göre İncelenmesi

Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı çocuk edebiyatı eserlerini eleştirel düşünme boyutlarına göre incelemektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Doküman incelemesi yoluyla elde edilen veriler eleştirel düşünme becerisinin duyuşsal ve bilişsel boyutlarına göre betimsel analiz yöntemiyle yorumlanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde Paul ve arkadaşları (1990) tarafından oluşturulan eleştirel düşünmenin 35 boyutunu içeren form veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. Bu kaynakta geçen “dimension” ve “strategies” kavramları aslına uygun olarak çevrildiği için bazen “boyut” bazen de “strateji” kelimesiyle karşılanmıştır. Araştırmanın veri kaynaklarına 2011-2022 yılları arasındaki TUDEM edebiyat ödüllü çocuk kitapları dâhil edilmiştir. Bu eserler eleştirel düşünmenin 3 ana başlıkta yer alan 35 maddesine göre incelenmiş, bahsi geçen eserlerin eleştirel düşünmenin bilişsel ve duyuşsal alandan oluşan 35 stratejisini de içerdiği tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonunda, seçilen çocuk edebiyatı kitaplarının eleştirel düşünme becerisinin 35 boyutunu da içerdiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu kitaplardan başka diğer çocuk edebiyatı kitapları da eleştirel düşünmenin 35 boyutuna göre çalışılarak alanyazınına kazandırılabilir.
