WRITING SCIENTIFIC PAPERS: A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO RESEARCH AND PUBLISHING USING THE DERGIPARK PLATFORM

Abstract

Abstract: Scientific writing is the cornerstone of academic advancement, permitting re searchers to articulate their ideas, add to the common pool of knowledge, and be part of a framework of engagement with the global academic community. For students in un derrepresented regions such as Afghanistan, mastering scientific writing becomes excep tionally important for academic acknowledgement and participation in the wider inter national discourse. Yet, many Afghan students face challenges due to limited access to technical training, language barriers, and institutional support. To fill these gaps, a one month workshop entitled "The Art of Writing Scientific Papers: A Comprehensive Guide to Research and Publishing" was organized in March 2025 for the students at Woman Online University. With over 360 participants, the workshop gave on-the-ground training on practical aspects of research and publication, including topic selection, manuscript structure, research ethics, AI-assisted editing, and submission via platforms such as DergiPark. A post-workshop survey revealed that 96.9% would recommend the workshop to others, and 91.3% found the content highly useful. Participants praised the hands-on use of digital tools and expressed increased confidence in preparing and submitting sci entific manuscripts. The outcomes highlight the urgent need for accessible, low-cost and high-impact academic interventions that build research capacity in underserved regions. Such efforts not only improve the quality of research but also foster a culture of scientific inquiry and inclusion in the global academic landscape.
