INNOVATIVE SPACES IN LIBRARY DESIGN: AN INVESTIGATION OF THE MAKERSPACE MOVEMENT AS CREATIVE AREAS

Abstract

Developments in the technological field have necessitated the change and development in learning dynamics over time. An efficient process of production, design and innovation with tools and materials was needed to produce shareable works, which naturally required a rich and original learning approach. The Makerspace movement has emerged as a result of these requirements. Today, there are various types of makerspace spaces such as permanent makerspaces in libraries, museums, schools, or portable mobile (pop-up) makerspaces in wheelchairs that can be used in different places when needed.
In this study, the concept of makerspace which emerged as an innovative space in library design, and the makerspace designed libraries were examined, and an appropriate makerspace library design was tried to be determined.

KÜTÜPHANE TASARIMINDA YENİLİKÇİ MEKÂNLAR: YARATICI ALANLAR OLARAK MAKERSPACE HAREKETİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Teknolojik alandaki gelişmeler, zaman içerisinde öğrenme dinamiklerinde değişim ve gelişimi zorunlu kılmıştır. Paylaşılabilir eserler üretmek için araçlarla ve malzemelerle etkin bir yapım, tasarım ve inovasyon sürecine ihtiyaç duyulmuş, bu da doğal olarak zengin ve özgün bir öğrenme yaklaşımını gerektirmiştir. Makerspace hareketi de bu gereksinimlerin bir sonucu olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Günümüzde kütüphaneler, müzeler, okullar gibi yapılarda kalıcı makerspaceler veya farklı mekânlarda gerektiği zaman kullanılabilen tekerlekli dolaplar içindeki taşınabilir mobil (pop-up) makerspaceler gibi çeşitli türlerde makerspace alanları bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada kütüphane tasarımında yenilikçi bir mekân olarak ortaya çıkan makerspace kavramı ile makerspace anlayışıyla tasarlanmış kütüphaneler incelenerek, uygun bir makerspace kütüphane tasarımının nasıl olması gerektiği belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.
